General Purpose
Performs a variety of routine skilled duties as needed to provide grounds keeping.

Education and Experience

 

  • Minimum of 18 years old

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Capacity to safely operate potentially dangerous grounds and other equipment
  • Willingness to experience occasional exposure to hazardous work conditions (involving noise, fumes, heights, slippery surfaces, vibrations, moving parts, etc.) and moderate exposure to dust, grease, motor fuels, insects, temperature changes, inadequate lighting, inclement weather, etc.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Must possess a valid Utah drivers license

Job Focus

 

  • Performs planting, pruning, and application of chemicals to trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and ornamental flowers
  • Performs installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of irrigation water sprinkler system; repairs broken mains, laterals, valves, heads and filters; programs controllers and monitors water usage; winterizes sprinkler systems to avoid freezing; flushes watering systems in spring
  • Performs installation, care, and maintenance of lawn; performs grounds preparation, seeding, sodding, mowing, watering, application of chemicals, and aeration of turf; operates, cleans, and stores all landscape equipment such as tractor, lawn mowers
  • Performs other related duties as required

Process

It is necessary for candidates to apply for specific openings by mail or in person to the Human Resource Department. The College reports all positions to the Department of Work Force Services, posts all positions on the website: http://www.datc.edu/hr, and posts hardcopies of all announcements in the Fiscal Service area. You can request a copy at the Cashiers window. Verification of a typing score (within last six months) if required, is accepted from the Campus Testing Center.
