After you have been notified that you are selected for a job, you must contact DATC at 593-2402 to obtain your training plan. You will need to fill out the DATC Admissions Application. You can do this on line, or at DATC. Then you will pay the $40 registration fee. After paying the registration fee, you will see the Hill AFB Training Representative in room 1014 for your training plan. Training varies depending on what position you have been hired for.

When the job announcements are open, you need to prepare the HAFB SCEP Direct Hire Application. It is available as an attachment to the vacancy announcement posted on the DATC electronic job board. Signed applications must be turned in at DATC room 1014 by close of business on the day the announcement closes. Applications must be only 2 pages long, so as you fill out the application, if the text boxes expand, make sure you delete blank lines and keep it to 2 pages.
• Hill AFB currently uses the direct hire method for most jobs in the 309th Aircraft Maintenance Wing. They send announcements to colleges and universities in the local area. For most maintenance jobs, they advertise at the Davis Applied Technology College and the Ogden-Weber Tech College. Most announcements are advertised for 5 working days. You can find them posted on the DATC electronic job board.
• After the position closes, applications are taken to the SCEP coordinator on base. They are then forwarded to the supervisors doing the hiring. Once they decide who they want to interview or hire, they will call those people and set up appointments for interviews. After all positions are filled, all applicants not selected should receive an e-mail telling them they were not selected.
• After selection, the student must register at DATC and pay the $40 registration fee. Then, they will visit the HAFB Training Representative in room 1014 to obtain their training plan. Once they have started work, they take a copy of their training plan to Student Services to enroll in classes.
The Student Career Experience Program or SCEP provides a way for people to get hired in a government job at a low grade—usually a Wage Grade (WG) - 03, attend school, and eventually be promoted and converted to a permanent employee. You do not need any experience in the field you are applying for.
