The General Education Development (GED®) is a combination of five (5) individual subject tests. The five tests are multiple-choice with the Writing test having an essay requirement. A Utah High School Completion Diploma is awarded upon successful completion of the GED® Test.

Cost and Registration

The cost to take the GED® is $85.00; you must pay this fee before we will schedule your appointment. Payment of this fee can be made to the Cashier in Student Services, Monday thru Thursday 7:30 to 6:30 and Friday 7:30 to 3:30. GED® testing is done on Wednesdays, by appointment. You can take the entire test in one day or you can split it up. The GED® test takes approximately seven hours to complete. This does not include the time it takes to register. Payment can be made with cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. You do not need to take classes or the GED® Practice Test to take the GED®

GED® is given in English and Spanish

If you would like to take the GED® in Spanish, please let us know when making your appointment. All instructions on test days are given in English. If you need instructions in Spanish, you must let us know this before your testing day.

How the GED® is Scored

At the Davis Applied Technology College, you must complete the battery of five (5) subject tests within 90 days from the time the initial fee was paid. A new charge will be assessed for each subject test after 90 days, see “Retesting & finishers” for prices. To pass the GED® two conditions must be met: Score an average of 410, out of 800, on each of the five (5) subject tests AND Score an average of 450 on each of the five (5) subject tests to obtain a minimum passing GED® score of 2250. A Utah High School Completion Diploma is awarded upon successful completion of the GED® Test.
