The Paralegal program prepares students for employment in law offices, government offices, public service agencies and companies with in-house legal staff. Students develop written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and analytical skills. The program includes instruction in legal research and writing, civil procedure, law office management, professionalism and ethics, interviewing, investigating and evidence, family law, criminal law and procedure. Students will complete an internship to further develop their skills as a Paralegal.

This program was developed based upon standards from the American Bar Association, Standing Committee on Paralegals, standards set by national paralegal organizations, including the American Association for Paralegal Education, the National Association for Legal Assistants, and the National Federation for Paralegal Associations, and based upon information from area attorneys and paralegals.

  • Complete the DATC Admissions Application
  • Pay the $40.00 fee online or to the cashier in Student Services
  • Take the Admissions Assessment in the DATC Testing Center in Student Services
  • Attend a DATC orientation (held every Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.)
Meet with an Enrollment Technician in Student Services
Start class
