Program Admissions
To enroll in a DATC program, students must meet designated admissions testing requirements. The DATC uses the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) or the Accuplacer test. These are used to evaluate your skill levels and the aptitudes needed to be successful in your program and the workforce.
In most cases, students who need assistance with these skills can be enrolled in Skill Development classes either before starting their training program or while enrolled in the program.
There are several different TABE and Accuplacer tests available. In addition to Spelling and Typing tests, you may also be tested on.
- Reading: Vocabulary and reading comprehension.
- English: Spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence and paragraph structure, etc.
- Math: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages and decimals.
To find out which tests are required for the program you are interested in, go to the Admissions Requirements on the program web page.

There is no initial charge for Admissions Testing. If you retake a test, you have one additional opportunity, and you must pay a re-testing fee.
