High School EMT Basic
Program:
Emergency Medical Technician Davis Applied Technology College is now offering the EMT Basic course to qualified High School/Internship students. If you meet the outlined requirements below and will be 18 years old with 120 days of the class ending, then you are eligible for the EMT Basic course. Testing with the State of Utah must be done within 120 days of completing the course. To enroll for the course a transmittal from your ATE Coordinator will need to be sent to the college and registration must be completed in Student Services at DATC. Requirements:
1. Prior to registering for the EMT Basic Course, you must pass the assessment requirements* at the Davis Applied Technology College. (Grade 9.5 level reading and math basics) Please contact Student Services for available days and times for testing at 593-2332. *Please note that assessment testing may be waived with a transcript showing a passing grade on the UBSCT exam.
2. Current CPR Certification Card from one of the following:
i. American Heart Association – Healthcare Provider
ii. American Red Cross – Professional Rescuer
iii. National Safety Council – Infant and One & Two Man Adult CPR
3. Current TB test--results have to be dated within the last six months.
4. If you have not been a Utah resident for the last five (5) years, you will be assessed an additional $50 fee and will have to go to the BEMS after class begins for a background check.
5. One full-faced photographs – Student provides original photos –passport size – name printed on back.
6. All fees must be paid at registration.

*Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) fees include a written test and a background criminal investigation (BCI). Students who need fingerprinting will be accessed an additional $40 fee. The fees are subject to change with the beginning of each school year.
