Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant program includes classroom work and hands-on skill practice. Students learn laboratory testing, phlebotomy, vital signs, medication administration, and other patient care skills to assist physicians. Upon completion of the primary courses, the student completes a 300-hour, non-paid externship in a medical office. Students in this program are trained in all aspects of medical office practice including administrative tasks and back office clinical tasks.

The Medical Assistant program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (AAME). This CAAHEP accreditation allows students to sit for the national AAMA certification exam upon completion of the Medical Assisting program.
