Nursing Application Process

Complete Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Class
Enroll at the DATC
Complete prerequisite classes:

*The following are listed by WSU course numbers, although other regionally-accredited universities' equivalent courses may be accepted
  • Human Anatomy (ZOOL 2100) or Biomedical Core I (HTHS 1110)
  • Human Physiology (ZOOL 2200) or Biomedical Core II (HTHS 1111)
  • Elementary Chemistry (CHEM 1110) or Introduction to General, Organic &
    Biochemistry (CHEM 1050), or Introductory Chemistry (CHEM 1010)
  • Intermediate Algebra (MATH 1010)

Complete an application to the DATC Nursing program
(available twice per year):

 

Application Timeline and Requirements
Available: November 1 • Due: February 14 • Classes start: August
Available: April 1 • Due: June 20 • Classes start: January

 

  • Must have 3.0 GPA or better to apply
  • Must have CNA certification prior to the start of class
  • The selection process is competitive and acceptance is not guaranteed
  • Extra points on application given for completed courses listed under Step 5 

Nursing Application

Upon acceptance into the Program—enroll at the DATC
The following additional courses completed will get extra points on the application:
*Must be completed by end of PN first semester:

  • Introductory Microbiology (MICR 1113)
  • Introductory Psychology (PSY 1010)
  • Foundations in Nutrition (NUTR 1020)

*Must be completed prior to PN graduation:

  • Introductory College Writing (ENGL 1010)
  • Quantitative Literacy Math (MATH 1030, 1040 or 1050)
Upon completion of the Practical Nursing program, apply
for Weber State University's (WSU) PN-to-RN program
taught on the DATC campus
