Surgical Technology

The Surgical Technology program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Students completing this course are eligible to take the National Certified Surgical Technologists Exam. Surgical technologists are allied health professionals who work in the surgical suite delivering surgical patient care. They ensure the operating room environment is safe, the equipment functions properly, and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists are the surgical team's experts in aseptic technique. After completion of required classroom hours, the student is required to complete a 600-hour, non-paid clinical externship in the operating room.
